Wish Haul: Beauty

A few months ago, I was super excited on Twitter and our other social media because I was working on a huge Wish haul for you all.  Today, I’ve got part one for you. . . Wish Haul: Beauty!

As of 3 July, the Wish haul series has been cancelled. After a terrible customer service experience, I am no longer comfortable promoting the company.

What’s Wish? Wish is an online marketplace that features items for incredible prices. The catch? Shipping takes what seems like forever, especially when compared to ship times like Amazon Prime‘s (we’re spoiled!).  Additionally, shipping costs are calculated by item, rather than for your order as a haul.

Now, some items can be hit-or-miss. Sometimes you can get exactly what you want, for a stellar price; other times, you get what you pay for.  But, if you compare prices (the “related” tab is your best friend for finding the best deal) and read reviews, you’ll have more success than not, in my experience.  For the most part, I’ve been lucky!  And, when an item hasn’t met my expectations, I’ve yet to have any issues receiving a refund from Wish’s customer service.

That being said, read on for part one of my much-anticipated Wish haul:  beauty!  Along with the details from Wish, I’ll provide comparable information from Amazon, in case you really can’t wait to try something for yourself!

Some things to keep in mind:

  • Wish titles tend to be keyword-heavy and pretty laughable. I’m including them both for convenience and entertainment! In this case, some of the Amazon titles are pretty funny, too!
  • Prices fluctuate on the site, so I’ll be listing the prices at the time of writing. All the Wish prices are pre-shipping, so be sure to check that if you decide to buy; there’s nothing worse than getting to the cart and realising it’s twice the total you anticipated. Amazon prices are available with Prime unless otherwise noted.

Facial Cleansing Brush

On Wish: 5 in 1 Multifunction Electric Face Facial Cleansing Brush Spa Skin Care massage, $4

On Amazon: Townpeak 5 in 1 Multifunction Portable Electric Facial Cleansing Brush Spa Skin Care Facial Massager*, $7.39

My review: While I only use this brush once a week at best, I really enjoy it when I do!  I especially enjoy the brush and sponge heads. The battery life isn’t amazing, but it will last through a few uses, which is all I ask for.

Would I buy again? Yes!

Makeup Brushes

On Wish: 20Pcs/Sets Eye Shadow Foundation Eyebrow Lip Brush Makeup Brushes Tools hot, $2

On Amazon: KOLIGHT 20 Pcs Pro Makeup Set Powder Foundation Eyeshadow Eyeliner Lip Cosmetic Brushes*, $5.99

My review:  I was a little wary of this set as there were quite a few extra-long bristles sticking out (a personal pet peeve!) when I first opened the brushes. Even so, I was blown away! Even with the quick snip of those long bristles, they were good to go.  There’s a wide assortment of brushes included in this set, so much so that I honestly have more makeup brushes on hand than I may ever need at a time!  But they’re soft and of pretty good quality, and they get the job done.

Would I buy again? Yes!

Eyeliner Stencil

On Wish: 8 Pcs/4 Set New Cat Line Eye Makeup Eyeliner Stencils for Eye Makeup Cat Eye Line Guide Cosmetic, $1

On Amazon: Cat Line Eyeliner Stencil, Smoky Eyeshadow Applicators Template Plate Professional Multifunction Black Cat  Shape Eye Liner & Eye Shadow Guide Template*, $3.99

My review: Especially with fibro affecting my hands, I’ve never been particularly good at applying eyeliner, especially cat eyes or other such ~fancy~ styles. When I first saw these stencils, I was intrigued; there’s no better way to catch my eye than to put a cat on something.  However, these stencils didn’t really improve my eyeliner skills. Aside from testing them initially (and for this post’s photo shoot), I haven’t taken them out, let alone used the duplicate sets.

Would I buy again? No.

Silicone Makeup Sponges

On Wish: 2PC Blender Silicone Sponge Makeup Puff For Liquid Foundation BB Cream Beauty Essentials, $1

On Amazon: Silicone Makeup Sponge, ESARORA Clear Silicone2 pcsZero Makeup Waste*, $3.49

My review:  I’d heard a lot of amazing things about silicone makeup sponges and was excited to try them out.  In my experience, though, these do not apply my makeup as smoothly as a more typical sponge, nor are they as waste-free as I’d seen them touted. They aren’t a bad product, but they aren’t for me.

Would I buy again? No.

Makeup Brush Cleaner

On Wish: Silicone Makeup Brush Cleaning Washing Cleanser Guard Board Mat Hand Tool Scrubbing Pad Clean Plate Makeup Tools, $1

On Amazon: LYNN Silicone Makeup Brush Cleaning Mat, Makeup Brush Cleaner Pad,Cosmetic Brush Cleaning Mat Portable Washing Tool Scrubber with Suction Cup*, $5.48

My review: In buying new makeup brushes, I wanted to make sure I kept them well-maintained from the start, so I picked up this cleansing pad to wash them, along with this (cruelty-free!) makeup brush cleansing shampoo.  The pad suctions to the sink and makes it super simple to get a deep clean on the brushes.  I try to do this at least once a week with the brushes I’ve used to keep everything clean.

Would I buy again? Yes!

Beautyblender Holders

I actually reordered this from another seller to store some extra sponges, so we’ve got two separate listings for the same product!

On Wish (1): 1pcs Rose Gold Makeup Puff Holder Gourd Shape Sponge Brush Egg Stand Bracket Stencil Egg Powder Puff Sponge Drying Display Stand, $2

On Wish (2): Fashion Anti-microbial Breathable Makeup Puff Dryer Stand Blender Sponge Holder Beauty, Free (Just pay shipping!)

On Amazon: Sunmore Beauty Makeup Sponge Blender Holder Drying Rack Stand, Makeup Sponges Stand, Powder Puff Sponge Support Display Stand,Makeup Organizer  Case – Rose Gold – 1 Piece*, $5.99

My review: My sister had gifted me a Beautyblender months ago that had yet to leave its packaging because I was afraid of it getting dirty on a counter or in a makeup bag.  Once I picked up these holders, though, I’m using it frequently! I picked up another two from the latter link to hold a few other makeup sponges and I have no complaints.  These are sturdy and seem well-made!

Would I buy again? Yes (and I did!)!

Beautyblenders with Holder

On Wish: 12PCS/8PCS/4PCS Makeup Foundation Sponge Blender Puff Make Up Tool Foundation Beauty with Puff Holder, $1

On Amazon: Makeup Blender Sponge Beauty Blending egg 5 Pcs + Sponges Holder – Flawless Foundation Premium Eye Tool Puff Cosmetics for Powder Concealer Cream Complexion Liquid Applicator Latex Free*, $6.99

My review: I wanted to have some extra sponges on hand for when my Beautyblender inevitably dies (note:  these sponges are not Beautyblender brand nor are they affiliated with it), and the cute little holder sealed the deal (despite already having several of the above holder . . . whoops). This one holds my cleansing sponge, and both it and the sponges have held up well so far! The sponges are on the smaller side, but I find that I actually prefer that (I have one in my other holder, pictured above, for reference!).

Would I buy again? Yes!

Detangling Brush

On Wish: Fashion Magic Detangling Handle Tangle Shower Hair Brush Comb Tamer Tool Hot JZ, $1

On Amazon: Detangling Hair Brush Detangler Brushes for Women Salon Elite Handle Detangle Brush Magic Comb*, $5.99

My review: I have exceptionally thick hair that’s a major pain to comb out after washing.  I didn’t want to damage it by using a normal brush, so I did some digging to find a brush made especially for wet hair! It works wonders and I no longer spend half an hour trying to comb out my hair post-shower.

Would I buy it again? Yes!

Face Mask Applicator

On Wish: Silicone Mask Brush Facial Mask Mud Foundation Applicator Makeup Brush Skin Care, $2

On Amazon: Silicone Face Mask Brush, Facial Mask Applicator Brush Hairless, Mask Mud Brush Tools Professional (2 pcs) 2 pack*, $5.99

My review: I’ve recently been using a lot of face masks, but got extremely frustrated by getting mask beneath my nails every single time.  This little tool is so simple, but makes it so much easier! I’m planning to grab another one to use for muscle rubs, so that I can avoid having that smell on my hands, too.

Would I buy again? Yes (and I plan to!)!

Powder Brush

On Wish: 2018 New and High Quality Toothbrush Style Eyebrow Brush Foundation Eyeliner Makeup Brushes, $1

Disclaimer: the listing from which I actually ordered is no longer online, but I’ve found the same product from another seller, linked above!

On Amazon: Zodaca Small Oval Makeup Brush Toothbrush For Cosmetic Foundation Cream Powder Makeup Tool, Black/Brown*, $5.38

My review: This is one brush that didn’t come in the big set above. I’ve been meaning to try these oval brushes for quite some time, so this was the perfect opportunity!  This isn’t the greatest brush I’ve ever used, but it gets the job done. I love the flexibility of the handle nearest the head, especially.

Would I buy again? Yes!
