A few months ago, I saw this YouTube video featuring a Walmart Beauty Box review. I was intrigued, and with a five-dollar price point, I had to try it for myself! After some complications, I ended up with four of their summer boxes and a review was naturally in order. That being said, enjoy our Summer 2018 Walmart Beauty Box Review!
Obviously, it’s pretty far from summer as this post goes live–among the many technical difficulties we encountered over the past few months, this post never got to enter the world! Still, our thoughts on these products and the box as a whole are relevant and will hopefully help you in your own purchasing decisions!

The ordering process for the Walmart Beauty Box was super simple, but we, unfortunately, ran into quite a few issues. Initially, we were charged four times for our first order. Then, we were charged a second time (again, four times) when it came time for the box to ship. When I finally got tracking numbers emailed to me (more information on why there are multiple below), they were incorrect.
Now, this was irritating, and I was just grateful to the Universe that it didn’t happen when my bank account was low or I had a bill that needed to go through. But, their customer service was able to refund the mistaken purchases so that we were left with just a single five-dollar charge. To make up for the problems, they kindly sent all four boxes that had initially been “ordered.” There was a few days’ turnaround for refunding, naturally, but it was sorted out with minimal further issue.
I love a good face mask, but I generally go for the sort that you rub on, like the sweet tea mask I mention as one of my favourite skincare products. That being said, I was intrigued by this mask. I’ve only done a few sheet masks in my time and hadn’t had a great experience with any of them. But “pearl brightening” sounded promising, so it was worth a shot (plus, could I tempt you all with knowledge of the product and no review?).
As you may have seen on our Instagram story, I made a bit of a spa day out of this mask and the hair mask below. I also reminded myself of my incompetence when it comes to sheet masks (so that’s why I don’t use them more often!). I’m not sure if they just don’t fit nicely on anyone or if my face is oddly shaped, but the mask never sits well. Nevertheless, I really enjoyed using this. It really did make my face seem brighter! The serum in the mask lasted for hours, so it may not the right mask for putting on before you plan to go out or put on makeup. I didn’t try myself, though, so for all I know, it may cover beautifully!
As a bonus, the LALAFOX brand seems wonderful. Not only did this product work beautifully, but their products are also cruelty-free! That’s a win-win in my book.
This is the only one of these products I’ve actually tried before! You might remember it being mentioned in my Skincare Routine and Favourite Products post. My thoughts on the product from that post have stayed true, but I must say: I love these tiny, travel-friendly packets! I’ll definitely be including one in my luggage on my next trip.
Update: I recently began using this moisturizer more often (trying to be more consistent with my skincare routine!) and ended up having quite a reaction to it. So, no more of this one for me!
I’ve always been intrigued by little packets of wet wipes. My favourite thing about going to certain restaurants as a kid was getting the little individual towelettes afterwards – I guess I’ve always been a bit of a clean freak!
With that in mind, I was rather absurdly exciting to find these Kleenex packets in this Walmart Beauty Box. I already keep a travel pack of tissues in my bag, so why not add a wet wipe?
Believe it or not, this was my very first hair mask! This was part of my spa day along with the sheet mask above and it was really the icing on the cake.
My favourite aspect without fail was the papaya scent. My hair smelt so good for so long after using the product! I immediately told my entire family we would need to invest in this one, if only for the scent.
It being vegan was an equally important detail. It’s important to note that the company itself is not, but I believe that showing the demand for such vegan products can truly help to change that.
I’m not much a fan of bath bombs, as even the scent from them while in the packaging will trigger a migraine. Fortunately for this review, my younger sister adores them! So, I passed it on for her with strict orders to get back to me with her thoughts. Of course, getting a teenager to do extra “homework” isn’t particularly easy! But, I did get a few thoughts from her.
She wasn’t a huge fan of the smell (I’m no expert because, as I said, I avoid bath bombs, but this one did seem especially strong!). But, she said that it was very long-lasting and didn’t leave the tub stained with colour–both of which sound like wins to me!
Again, this product wasn’t one I was keen to test myself, as my hair is uncontrollably thick as so as it is. But again, we’re lucky for review purposes, as my mom welcomes a bit of extra volume and was more than happy to test this out for us. Like her teenaged daughter, getting a woman with two jobs and a blog to write a formal review is difficult, but she gave me some thoughts.
She liked both the product and its scent and loved its foamy texture. Most importantly, she raved to me about how much she really liked the conditioner I’d given her for the time she used it. In fact, it’s even come up after the fact!

MY FINAL THOUGHTS:
I did end up unsubscribing from this box before the next season – the Walmart Beauty Box comes quarterly. The box itself was nice, especially for the price, and customer service was helpful. But, with all of the issues I encountered, I didn’t want to risk the hassle a second time.
The included products were certainly high-quality and I truly enjoyed using nearly all of them (and my family enjoyed those I couldn’t use myself!). As I transition to more cruelty-free and vegan products, I’m even less likely to return–but that’s very much a personal preference.
